ALBUQUERQUE (WFLA) — A sheriff’s office in New Mexico is investigating a cell phone video that apparently shows a deputy pulling a gun on two motorcyclists.

The video taken Saturday afternoon shows two motorcyclists driving down a road in Albuquerque. One of them pulls a wheelie as they’re riding.

That’s when a deputy riding as a passenger in a nearby police cruiser pulls what appears to be his gun on the riders.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office did not talk to our affiliate in the area on camera, but said in a statement that deputies took several calls about a group of about 50 motorcyclists driving recklessly and aggressively in the area.

When deputies caught up with the group, the sheriff’s office says some of the motorcyclists surrounded them and threw up gang signs which led to the deputy in the video drawing his gun over fear for his safety.

The sheriff’s office says it has launched an internal investigation to look into the incident.
