Presidents Day 2024: What’s open and closed?

(WPHL) – Monday, Feb. 19, is Presidents Day, and whether you are spending the day at home enjoying the day off from work or school, or just treating it like any other day, the holiday is a great opportunity to snag some deals and savings.

The holiday commemorates the birthdays of America’s 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12, and America’s first president, George Washington, who was born on Feb. 22.

Check below to find out which businesses and services are open or closed on Presidents Day:

Banks and Financial Services:

Presidents Day is a federal banking holiday, so most banks are closed for in-person services.

TD Bank will remain open.

All other banks will have online banking and ATM services available despite being closed.

The NASDAQ and New York Stock Exchange are closed and will reopen on Tuesday.

The U.S. Bond Market is also closed and will reopen on Tuesday.

Mail and Postal Services:

The United States Postal Service is not operating or delivering mail on Presidents Day.

UPS and FedEx will deliver and their respective stores are open.

FedEx Express and FedEx Ground Economy will operate on a modified service.

Government Offices and Federal Agencies:

As many government offices and federal agencies operate on a federal holiday schedule, many government and federal agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, city halls, courthouses and public libraries are closed.

Retail and Grocery Stores:

Most big retailers and big box stores are open on the holiday, while local retailers might operate on a modified schedule or be closed.

Trash and Recycling Collection Companies:

Most major waste management companies will remain open and pick up on a regular schedule. Check with your local trash and recycling collection company if you typically have trash pickup on Mondays.
