TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A couple who loves to walk barefoot in public cut out the bottom of their shoe collection that carries a hefty price tag.

The video shared on TikTok shows the Cleveland couple rip out the bottom of their entire collection, which they say is worth more than $20,000.

“This is a sacrifice we’re willing to take because walking barefoot means the world to us,” the original poster, Christi, said of her and her husband in the video.

During their shoe renovation, the couple made small shelves where their toes and heels would sit, as well as a lip where “their toenails can latch on” so they can hold onto the shoe.

“The new age of barefoot walking has begun and I couldn’t be more ex[c]ited or thankful,” Christi wrote.

The pair described their barefoot walking as “freeing and detoxifying.”

The video has racked up over 36 million views, with nearly two million likes, and lots of comments with people scratching their heads.

“Just get barefoot shoes. Also I’d be afraid I’d get ring worm or something nasty,” one user wrote.

“I don’t even like walking barefoot at home,” another user said.
