A New York resident brought 17 cats to a shelter after finding at least 14 of them stuffed in an airtight Tupperware container on the side of the road.

The cats were covered in urine and feces … and they all had fleas and ear mites.

After being cleaned and given flea treatments, they’re all ready for adoption

Officials at the shelter say they don’t see this particular type of cruelty often.

“This just happened to be somebody walking around in their neighborhood and saw them on the side of the road. Usually, there are air holes provided at least, but this one was sealed tight completely,” said Amy Duskiewicz, of the Animal Protective Foundation Shelter, said.

The shelter is working with the SPCA on an investigation.
