DUNEDIN, FL (WFLA) — A Clearwater man was charged with DUI manslaughter after investigators say he killed a motorcyclist in a wrong-way, head-on crash in Dunedin on Saturday.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office investigators say the crash happened at about 9:23 p.m. at County Road 1 and Burnham Lane.

Kenneth Cabral, 40, was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango northbound in the southbound lanes of County Road 1, when he hit a motorcyclist head-on, according to detectives.

The motorcyclist, identified as John Sorensen, 38, of Clearwater, was transported to a local hospital via Bayflite where he later died from his injuries. Sorensen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Cabral suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Throughout the investigation, deputies say Cabral showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter.
