Authorities say a Missouri man suspected in the fatal shooting his ex-girlfriend and her teenage son has been shot and killed.
Henry County Sheriff Kent Oberkrom says law enforcement officers killed 47-year-old James Barton Horn Jr. on Saturday near Knob Noster, Missouri.
Sandra Kay Sutton and her 17-year-old son, Zachary Wade Sutton, were found dead Thursday in Clinton, Missouri.
Horn, who has past convictions for kidnapping and abductions, has been missing since late April when Sutton escaped the home they shared in Sedalia and told police he had been keeping her in a wooden crate in their Missouri home off-and-on for four months.
Police charged Horn with kidnapping but never held him in custody.
Sedalia is 90 miles southeast of Kansas City.
