TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — On Tuesday, August 2nd, Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Dr. Cathy Lynch Buckhorn will join President and Mrs. Obama at the White House for a State Dinner in honor of Singapore’s Prime Minister and Mrs. Lee Hsien Loong.

Tuesday’s State Dinner marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between U.S. and Singapore. Singapore also remains a strong partner in the Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade agreement.

“Joining the President and First Lady in welcoming Prime Minister & Mrs. Lee Hsien Loong is both an honor and a privilege,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Singapore remains one of our closest allies in support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. I look forward to working with the government of Singapore and the Obama administration to increase global trade and create American jobs as the recent widening of the Panama Canal opens up significant opportunities to increase trade with the Asian market.”
