UPDATE: The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office says the incident appears to be a misunderstanding. A father riving the vehicle described blow was picking his daughter up Thursday.
He called for his daughter, who got into the vehicle. “He didn’t realize another girl in the area misconstrued that he was calling to her,” deputies said.
The father drove to the school after seeing a notice from the school. He talked with a school resource officer. A deputy spoke with the man’s daughter and confirmed the description.
PREVIOUS STORY: BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) — A 13-year-old girl was walking to the Boys and Girls Club in Bradenton after school Thursday afternoon when a strange vehicle pulled up beside her and the suspect asked her to get in, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the incident happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of 53rd Ave. W and 34th St. in Bradenton. The suspect asked the juvenile to get into his vehicle several times. The girl ran to the Boys and Girls Club and the suspect drove away westbound on 53rd Ave., deputies say.
The vehicle is described as an older, orange Lincoln four-door. The suspect is described as a black male, 30-35 years old, wearing a black t-shirt, short dark hair with a goatee and with numerous tattoos on arms.
The Lee Middle School Principal and the Manatee County School District, along with school resource officers, were made aware of this incident Friday morning.
