TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a truck that spilled gravel onto the Crosstown Connector. That gravel subsequently caused three cars to spin out of control and slam into a concrete barrier wall near the entrance to eastbound I-4.
One of the drivers, 24-year-old William Swartz from Tampa, got out to look at his car and was hit, state troopers said.
The force caused the man to fly over the wall and land 33 feet below, troopers said.
Two other people were involved in the accident, but a Florida Highway Patrol report indicates they weren’t hurt.
The accident caused major delays around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Anyone with information on the driver of the truck should call the FHP at 813-631-4020.
