TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Summer is just around the corner, and to fill time and make some extra cash, many residents will be looking for a summer job.
A new report from the financial wellness company, WalletHub, compared the relative strength of more than 180 markets in the U.S. across 21 indicators of its employment outlook, affordability and downtime-friendliness. The data set ranges from the median income of part-time employees to availability of summer jobs to rental price for a one-bedroom property.
Tampa ranked No. 19 in the country to find a summer job, garnering high scores for its availability of summer jobs and internships, as well as its labor force participation rate of 16-24-year-old residents.
Orlando topped the list, of 182 cities overall, and Miami had the highest of availability of summer jobs and internships in the country.
Tampa and St. Petersburg both lost points for commuter-friendliness and access to public transportation.
