UPDATE | Authorities say a boy lied when he reported an attempted abduction in Bradenton on Friday.
“Following more investigation, the boy admitted to detectives that he made the story up. His claims of having been abducted are false,” the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

ORIGINAL STORY | Manatee County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect who an 11-year-old boy says abducted him and drove him a block from his home.
The boy told deputies he was playing in his fenced in yard when a man in a black SUV or sedan stopped in front of the house located on 56th Avenue West in Bradenton.
The man entered the yard, told the boy to get in the car, then grabbed him by the wrist.
According to the boy, the man placed him in the front passenger seat and drove about a block from the home and stopped.
The man then allegedly told him to get out and the boy ran home and told his father about the incident.
The suspect was described as a white man wearing a black shirt and blue jeans with blondish hair.
Deputies have been checking the area for a vehicle and suspect fitting the descriptions.
Nothing has been found so far.
The investigation is ongoing.
