A Cheetos-colored alligator was turning heads in South Carolina this week, WSAV reported.

A viewer, Chad Godwin sent the news station a grainy photo of what appears to be an orange alligator that is approximately 4 to 5 feet long. The gator lives in a pond near the Cypress Ridge Community in Bluffton, S.C., according to WSAV.

When asked about the gator, a spokesperson for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said it was likely caused by it hibernating somewhere near rust, like by an old drainage pipe.

“It’s like if you stuck your hand in a bucket of rusty water where metal had been sitting for a while,” David Lucas told the Island Packet.
