There’s a new tool available to help you evaluate the respiratory risk before you head out for your weekend beach trip.
A new website shows the levels of red tide in the air.
The Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System forecasts the air at the beaches in Pinellas County is in pretty good shape. The blue markers indicate very low concentrations of red tide and the yellow markers show low amounts of red tide. The new forecast will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Remember, the website focuses on the air testing, not the water. This is most important for people who already suffer from respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD.
