BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — A person died in an explosion in Bradenton on Wednesday, according to the Bradenton Fire Department.
According to a release from the fire department, the fire started just before 1 p.m. on the fourth floor of a condominium building. Bradenton police said someone lit a flame inside a room where oxygen was being administered, which caused an explosion. The building’s sprinkler system extinguished the fire by the time first responders arrived.
The fire department did not provide any details about the victim, who was found unresponsive and burned. Paramedics were not able to revive them.
The other resident of the affected unit was not inside at the time at the time of the fire. Fire officials said the Red Cross was called in to help them with housing and other resources.
The fire is under investigation by the Bradenton fire and police departments, as well as the state fire marshal’s office.
