A 7-year-old boy was killed Thursday when pallets fell from a truck, hitting the boy.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said that Leonardo Chavez-Renteria died around 11 a.m. at Manatee memorial Hospital.
Deputies learned that Leonardo was playing in the storage area of a building on 20th Street East in Palmetto.
A fork lift was moving the empty pallets fom a truck when 15-20 of them fell.
Deputies said at this time, the incident appears to be a tragic accident. Leonardo would have turned 8 next month.
