MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Law enforcement officials are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Manatee County.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Gulf Dr. and Pine Ave. in Anna Maria.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a subject threatening to harm himself.
Douglas Schofield, 45, was found near the intersection of Gulf Drive and Pine Avenue.
Officers from the Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach police departments also responded.
Schofield was armed with a hatchet and a knife.
He was shot during the incident by a Bradenton Beach officer and a deputy used his or her electronic control weapon.
Schofield was taken to an area hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition.
