We pass them often, but hardly stop to think: what’s at the top of some of Tampa’s tallest buildings?

8 On Your Side gained exclusive access to some of the city’s tallest structures.

Did you know One Tampa City Center was the tallest building in the state when it was built in 1981?

One of its original residents is the University Club of Tampa. They moved into the entire top floor in 1982.

“It’s a really a good place to come and start your day or end your day,” said Harry Costello with The University Club.

“People who are involved in various business events, are aware it’s up here, but we find a lot of have no idea when they get here,” he said.

The club is 17,000 square feet and has both meeting and dining space and stunning views of Tampa’s picturesque scenery.

“Every view is a good view. There’s not a bad view in the house,” Costello said.

We went inside more skyscrapers in downtown Tampa.  We’ll reveal who occupies the top floors—and it may surprise you. Don’t miss “Life at the top” Wednesday at 11 p.m. on WFLA 8 On Your Side.
