An investigation into the hot car death of a Hernando County infant continues.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly wrapping up its preliminary investigation into the death of 9-month-old Keyton O’Callaghan. The agency will then forward the case to the State’s Attorney’s Office, according to a news release.
Deputies said O’Callaghan’s father found the child unresponsive in a hot car in Spring Hill early Friday afternoon. The boy was rushed to Oak Hill Hospital, where he later died, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators still don’t know exactly how long Keyton was left inside the car. They’re still in the process of interviewing his mother who was taking care of Keyton at the time, deputies said.
No further details regarding the case are immediately available.
