MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WNCN) – Hilton, a 12.5-foot Great White shark has surfaced off the coast of South Carolina – and it appears he is headed north.

Hilton weighs in at 1,326 pounds and was originally tagged near Hilton Head in March 2017, according to Ocearch.

He popped up off Myrtle Beach around 10 a.m. Wednesday. His previous ping was on June 10 at 7:44 p.m. in the waters off Charleston.

Ocearch tags marine life, including turtles and a wide variety of sharks, to study their behaviors.

Several other tagged Great Whites move their way by the Carolinas as they migrate throughout the year.

Savannah, an 8-foot immature female, pinged June 11 off Cape Lookout.
