HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Jennifer Renee Odom got off of a school bus to walk to her family home near San Antonio, Florida on February 19, 1993.
She was never seen alive again.
Her classmates reported seeing a suspicious looking blue pick up truck in the area.
Six days later, after a massive search by law enforcement and volunteers, Jennifer’s body was found in a wooded area in Hernando County.
Now the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office says they want to speak again with one person with a very specific tip.
“We’re looking for a person who provided information to us about the Jennifer Odom case back in November of 2016,” said Denise Moloney with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives aren’t revealing anything about the nature of the tip, but Moloney says the person who called in should remember.
“We believe that person will know who they are because 2016 was quite a time from when Jennifer went missing and the time that her body was found,” said Moloney.
The murder of Odom is one of the Tampa Bay area’s best known unsolved murders and it’s a case that has long stayed with everyone involved.
“The sheriff always says ‘no one deserves to be victimized,’ but a little girl like this she didn’t put herself into a situation where she could be victimized,” said Moloney.
