Customers may have been exposed to hepatitis A at Spring Hill pizza restaurant

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Customers of a pizza place in Spring Hill may have been exposed to hepatitis A after a restaurant worker tested positive for the virus, according to health officials.

The Florida Department of Health in Hernando County is urging patrons of the Village Pizza Restaurant, 4070 Deltona Boulevard to get a vaccine that may provide protection against the disease.

The agency says a hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for anyone who ate or drank at the restaurant between May 29 and June 5.

Hepatitis A is a viral illness that affects the liver and causes fever, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, jaundice or yellowing of skin and eyes and dark urine.

Those who believe they are at risk can get a free vaccination at the department’s Spring Hill location on June 18 and 19 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The health department is located at 7551 Forest Oaks Boulevard.

Concerned customers can call the DOH-Hernando at 352-247-6111.
