A Spring Hill family is finally able to sleep through the night without worrying a firebug is going to return.

Hernando deputies busted the former boyfriend of a woman who lives there, saying he tried to kill her and nine others inside the home by setting it on fire.

The couple met at Premio Foods in Spring Hill. They dated for months.

But when Chris Jamison moved in with Luci Oyola, she told News Channel 8’s Peter Bernard, things changed.

“The first time that we broke up, he was mad at me and he like, ‘I’m gonna burn this house with everybody inside,’” said Luci.

Luci didn’t believe Jamison intended to carry out that threat.

Deputies believe his first arson happened on July 22 at Premio Foods when they say he set two fires.

Then around midnight the next night, as 10 people slept, they say he set it on fire.

Luci’s sister noticed the flames first.

“She started screaming, she awak[ened] everybody. We got out from the house. My step dad, he’s the one who was trying to stop the fire,” she said.

Everyone got out okay. But for two months, fear gripped the family as they wondered if Chris would come back.

Luci had a hard time believing Chris could actually commit the crime.

“When you love someone, I didn’t think he was gonna do it. You know, sometimes when you get mad you just say something but he basically did it,” said Luci.

Chris Jamison has a history of arrests.

Luci got an order to keep him far away and have no contact.

Cops say he violated that by calling her and admitting to starting the fire. They busted him Thursday.

“I don’t hope nothing bad happen, ya know, like, I know he did what he did but I’m not the type of person who wish[es] bad for other people,” she said.

Chris Jamison is facing 10 counts of first degree attempted murder, plus arson and stalking.
