TAMPA (WFLA) — For the second year in a row, the City of Tampa has launched its “shop small” directory on its website.
Black Friday is over and now the focus is in Small Business Saturday and the importance of shopping local this holiday season.
Local mom and pop shops and vendors alike are looking to turn this year around with an emphasis on shopping local.
More than 50 local vendors were set up on Small Business Saturday hoping to have support from the community while people are shopping for the holidays. Dozens of vendors set up in Ybor City’s Centennial Park for the weekly Saturday Market.
“We are outside, we are social distancing, everyone is wearing masks, it’s a perfect way to shop,” said Susan Hall, a local vendor at the market.
It wasn’t just in Ybor City. Over in Largo and Gulfport, different markets took to streets and parks to highlight local businesses and the importance of shopping local.
“The money we make here stays here. It isn’t going to a corporation in another city, it stays here,” added Hall.
For the second year, The City of Tampa also launched its “Shop Small Tampa Directory” to help shoppers find local businesses when they are holiday shopping.
