The mother of a teen arrested for making threats against a school in Citrus County has found herself behind bars, police said.
Nancy York, 49, was charged with one felony count of tampering with evidence and booked into the Citrus County Jail on Thursday.
The charges stem from an investigation into social media threats against Citrus Springs Middle School.
Police said a photo of York’s 16-year-old son began circulating on social media in which he’s seen holding a gun. The caption reads “CSMS be careful. Don’t go to school tomorrow,” according to detectives.
York’s son, who is a student at Lecanto High School later confessed about his involvement and detectives recovered the firearm he was allegedly holding.
He was arrested and taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ocala.
Police said York is being held on a $5,000 bond.
No further information regarding her arrest is immediately available.
