CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Citrus County K-9 is in recovery after undergoing emergency surgery on Thursday.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said K-9 Riggs was rushed to a veterinary surgery center for emergency surgery as a result of a life-threatening medical condition.
Deputies shared some good news on Friday, saying the surgery was successful.
“K-9 Riggs is now comfortable and recovering from the surgery while he receives around-the-clock attention,” the sheriff’s office said.
K-9 Riggs is recovering in the hospital and will be cared for by the veterinary team over the next several days.
The sheriff’s office is asking the community for continued thoughts and prayers for the K-9, and his handler, Deputy Danner, during this time.
