A $14,000 donation from the Manatee Kennel Club will pay for the purchase of a new sheriff’s office K9 officer.
The donation will pay for the purchase of “Phantom,” a 19-month-old Belgian Malinois.
Phantom is already training with his handler, Deputy Keith Sutton.
The sheriff’s office said the duo should be ready to hit the streets by the beginning of 2019.
Phantom is the third K9 in three years the Kennel Club has donated to the sheriff’s office.
