Local charity raising money to build shelter for homeless, women, pregnant teens

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A Tampa Bay charity is working to educate people about homelessness and domestic violence.

Aries Angel House Incorporated wants to provide resources for victims in Pinellas County. Volunteers serve food and pass out care packages to those in need at Williams Park.

The organization is raising money to build a shelter that will benefit women and children, pregnant teens and homeless veterans.

Sherika Dixon, founder of Aries Angel House said, “There’s a lot of people out there that don’t know the resources, there’s a lot of agencies that don’t have resources to help people and I once was that person, so that’s why my mission is so passionate.”

The group is having a 5K walk Saturday, May 21 at Safety Harbor Pier, starting at 9 a.m.

Registration information can be found on the group’s Facebook page, Aries Angel House Inc. or call (727) 710-8700.
