TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Tampa Bay area moms and dads will receive a gift when they pick up their Christmas layaway this week: their bills have been paid.
Members of Iberia Bank, as part of the organization’s Layaway Angel program, are paying off thousands of dollars in layaway gifts that include toys. Various branches chose the stores they’d visit, and in total $2,500 will be paid off in the Tampa area.
One group, spearheaded by Vice President and Branch Manager Leo Alvarez, paid off $900 in bills at the Walmart on Dale Mabry at I-275 in Tampa.
“It’s a great sense of giving back,” says Alvarez. “It makes me feel really good knowing these families are being helped. It’s very spiritual and uplifting.”
