Hundreds of tattoo artists take over Tampa Bay area

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The City of Tampa will be taken over by more than 300 tattoo artists this weekend. The artists are coming from all over the world for the third annual Tampa Tattoo Arts Convention.

“We got four artists from here going, two artist from our Tampa shop are going; two artist coming in from New York and two artist coming in from Indiana,” said Gene Farmer, the owner of The Angry Elephant in Valrico.

Farmer plans to set his 10 artists up in five booths to show the Tampa Bay area how they can compete with the rest of the world.

“If you like art, you are going to love a tattoo convention, especially if you like eclectic and interesting people. You are definitely going to have your eyes full, different people walking around for sure,” said David Von Heckathorn, who is one of the tattoo artists at The Angry Elephant.

The Tampa Tattoo Arts Convention is at the Tampa Convention Center in Downtown Tampa. It runs from Friday through Sunday.
