Howard Frankland accident causing traffic backup

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge is causing traffic to backup. The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the Bridge, near mile marker 36 in Pinellas County.

The Florida Highway Patrol is on scene.

There are injuries as a result of the crash, however the extent of the injuries is unknown.

The two inside lanes of the bridge are closed. Two outside lanes are open.

The backup extends passed the bridge.
