TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — ZooTampa’s newest experience will let you wade in the water with stingrays.

Guests can join zookeepers at Stingray Shores for an up-close and personal encounter with stingrays starting next month.

The stingray encounter opens on March 15. Guests will need to be at least 48 inches or taller to participate, and guests under 18 need to attend with a paid, participating adult.

Tickets for the experence range from $44.95 to $59.95, depending on the day you go.

If you are allegeric to shellfish, you should skip the experience. ZooTampa issued an allergecy warning for the experience because the stingrays are fed a diet of fish and shellfish.

To participate in the experience, you will need to bring a swimsuit. Guests are required to wear one under their wetsuit. A wetsuit, water shoes and towels will be provided.

Participants can expect to be in the water with the stingrays for 15 to 20 minutes. The whole program, which includes changing time, is about 90 minutes long.
