The man, Demontrey Jackson, 22, was arrested by U.S. Marshals at a hotel in the Rocky Point area.

At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunfire at the Willow Brooke Apartments on Hellenic Drive and found a woman’s body.

The person who called 911 told the dispatcher they had heard a man and woman arguing before the shots were fired.

“As our detectives piece together this crime, we are all deeply saddened by this senseless violence that ended a woman’s life,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “At this time, this appears to be a domestic-related incident, and we believe the victim was targeted.”

Jackson was found at the hotel early Thursday morning and arrested for first-degree premeditated murder. He is being held in the Hillsborough County Jail.
