Tampa ranked one of best foodie cities in America

If you love to eat but your wallet hurts from the hefty prices of gourmet dining, Tampa is the town for you!

According to experts, true “foodies” not only crave new and different flavors but also savor the exploratory experience of eating, learning and discovering food.

Whether you fit the authentic definition, or not, culinary hot spots across the country have popped up to tantalize our taste buds.

To determine the most desired and least expensive food scenes, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 29 key indicators of foodie-friendliness.

The company weighed factors from affordability and access to high-quality restaurants, to food festivals around town, to craft breweries and wineries in the area.

Tampa held its own claiming the twelfth spot on the list of Best Foodie Cities in America for 2018.

Here’s how our town stacked up against the rest:

14th – Restaurants per Capita
32nd – Affordability & Accessibility of Highly-Rated Restaurants
9th – Gourmet Specialty-Food Stores per Capita
27th – Craft Breweries & Wineries per Capita
14th – Coffee & Tea Shops per Capita

Portland, OR came in at No. 1 and San Francisco stole second.

Rounding out the top three is our Sunshine State neighbor Miami, followed by New York and Los Angeles.
