TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police have arrested a 68-year-old Tampa man in connection with the
murder of a woman whose body was found in a Tampa neighborhood last year.

James Leon Jackson has been charged with 1st Degree Murder for the death of Diana Blumenberg Medina, 35.

Medina’s body was found behind some bushes near West Spruce Street and North Oregon Avenue on Sept. 26, 2017.

Detectives say Medina had been strangled and stabbed multiple times.

The investigation led detectives to a house across the street from where Medina’s body was found.

Detectives say forensic evidence linked Jackson to the murder. Jackson knew the  victim, according to deputies.

Jackson was arrested on unrelated drug possession charges two weeks after  the murder. He spent the last several months in jail before his arrest on Monday.
