TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa man has been charged in a woman’s death during a hit-and-run that occurred on Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP said Jesus Manuel Diaz, 18, was speeding in his Acura Integra on SR-580 when he hit a 46-year-old woman who was walking across the road.

The impact killed the woman, but the FHP report said Diaz allegedly kept driving with her remains still on the car. The report goes on to say that Diaz stopped near Yosemite Drive and San Pablo Place where he dumped her remains.

The FHP said Hillsborough County deputies found Diaz and his car at Monte Vista Place and Alvarado Drive where he was detained until highway patrol troopers could arrest him.

As of this report, he is in the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge for leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
