TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – It was standing room only inside the council chambers on Thursday for a debate on the Stovall house dividing the south Tampa community.
Multi-millionaire Blake Casper, of the McDonalds fortune, got permission to transform the historical home along Bayshore Boulevard into a private social club.
Some worry it’s a project that will bring too much traffic and change to their quiet neighborhood.
Before the vote took place, Councilman Harry Cohen made a point in reminding both sides that this may not be a permanent change.
“Councilman Miranda said that this is permanent, that this is forever. However, if these conditions are not looked up to, city council has the right to revoke the approval,” he said.
Both rezoning and alcohol items passed by a margin of 5-2.
