TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is looking for justice for three puppies that were thrown from a car Wednesday, leading to one of them being killed.
The Humane Society said late Wednesday night, three 8-week-old pointer/hound mix puppies were tossed out of a moving vehicle on a dead-end road off of Bearss Avenue.
According to the society, one of the puppies, posthumously named Paolo, was hit by a car and killed. The surviving siblings, Luke and Leia, suffered broken bones and other injuries — all while staying by their dead brother’s side.
“This disregard for the life of vulnerable beings is not acceptable and is, in fact, illegal,” the society said on social media. “Violence against animals is almost always linked to violence against humans and is a detriment to the safety of this community. Because of this, HSTB is offering a reward for the information that leads to the arrest of the person who did this.”
A Good Samaritan saw the pups and called for help. Luke and Leia are now being treated for their injuries at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
A $2,500 reward is available for information leading to information on the person who threw the dogs out of the car. Dave Bautista also pledged an additional $5,000 to the humane society’s fund as well.
