A fire at Tampa Electric Company’s East Bay substation in southern Hillsborough County knocked out power to 4,000 homes for a time on Friday, according to a spokeswoman.
TECO was on scene and rerouted power.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue confirmed there was an explosion that caused the fire at the substation.
Customers impacted by the fire had their power restored by early Saturday morning.
Firefighters let the blaze burn out.
