A Dade City woman is accused of making a child jump out of a moving car and driving away.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Ashlee Crawford, 31, was arrested for child neglect and driving in a vehicle with a suspended license after an incident on Franklin Rd. and US 301 N. early Monday morning.
At about 6:30 a.m., deputies said a child jumped out of the front passenger seat of a Cadillac that was being driven by a relative. The car drove away, leaving the 12-year-old girl behind.
The sheriff’s office and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and the child was treated for minor injuries.
The girl is now in the custody of Child Protection Division investigators.
Crawford was located a short time later in her vehicle near Brigann Yard Way in Thonotosassa. Deputies said she “admitted to telling the child to jump from the vehicle for unknown reasons.”
She was booked into the Orient Road Jail.
