There is a constant need to save and protect our Florida wildlife.  In fact, we are in peak season for newborn creatures and many times they are left in distress.

The good new is, Odessa’s Kris Porter is always ready to step in an help.

Her love of animals dates back 40 years.

“I started right out of college I got a job in the animal nursery at Busch Gardens, and I stayed there 11 years,” said Porter.

She took time off to raise her daughter and when she got back into the business, she decided to head up a not-for-profit, to save Florida Wildlife.

Today Porter is one of only a handful of  Florida’s and federally licensed rehabilitators, and animals are always in need.

“The need is every day,  the phone does not stop if it’s not an animal with red tide or a fishing line,” Porter explained.

Whatever the need Porter and her team of 90 volunteers are ready to jump into action.

To watch Porter care and coddle the animals there is no doubt she is like an animal whisperer.  It’s a gift.

“I always had that talent to pull them through. Especially ones in critical condition,” she said.

Her love for our Florida wildlife is what makes Kris Porter a Gr8 Inspiration.
