Judge allows more time to build defense in deadly Bayshore street racing crash

A Hillsborough County judge is allowing the attorney of the passenger in the deadly crash on Tampa’s Bayshore Boulevard more time to review evidence.

Tristan Herrin’s attorney, Brian Gonzalez spoke on his behalf in court Tuesday.

“We’re in the infancy of our discovery process in this case. There’s about 520 pages of an original report,” Gonzalez said.

The material includes thousands of pages of evidence, according to Gonzalez.

Herrin was the passenger riding in the 2018 Mustang GT going more than 100 mph when police said it struck Jessica Raubenolt and her 21-month-old daughter Lillia back in May.

Herrin’s brother, 18-year-old Cameron Herrin, was behind the wheel and is accused of racing 17-year-old John Barrineau down the scenic road.

Tristan Herrin’s next court date is set for Oct. 23.

The two drivers in the case will have a disposition hearing Thursday afternoon.
