PLANT CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Plant City mother said she is still looking for closure after her son was fatally shot on Christmas Day.

Two people were shot that night. But Zonte’veon Shaw’s body was found days later and that is leaving the mother wondering how and why this happened.

The sounds of chaos and gunshots on a Ring camera video on Christmas night still haunts Connie Shaw. Her son was one of two men shot and killed on Louisiana Street in Plant City.

“My mom said like 30 minutes later, she hears gunshots, and she calls me, and nobody knows where my son is,” Shaw said.

It was not until two days later that someone found the body of 30-year-old Zonte’veon Shaw in the Garden of Peace cemetery, which is more than 2 miles away from the original crime scene.

“It pisses me as a mom that you had no guts to even call 911,” Shaw said. “You had no guts to even take him to the hospital. My son was a son. He loved everybody. And he would never have done you like that. Whoever did this.”

Detectives are still trying to piece together how Shaw ended up there. They have yet to make any arrests. Connie Shaw is hoping someone comes forward with information. But for now, his mother is left with the pain of not knowing what happened during those 48 hours after the shooting.

“But everybody needs to say something because this is the family that is hurting together,” she said. “And I had to bury my son, they supposed to bury us instead of us burying them.”

The other victim in that shooting, 20-year-old Jamayais Bennett died at a hospital.

The Plant City Police Department said they are working to solve a number of homicides in the city. But in the meantime, they are hoping someone comes forward with any information to help the Shaw family to get closure.
