How did Daisy Duck Bandit end up in Tampa? That’s what just about everyone who knows he is asking.
Daisy Duck Bandit is a cat that a good Samaritan brought to the Blue Pearl specialty and emergency pet hospital in Tampa.
Employees there were able to verify the cat had a chip and were able to get in touch with his owner… in Michigan.
Angelique Simeone saw the area code and thought perhaps someone moved here from up north and kept the number.
That was until she made the call.
“And when I was giving her directions to pick up the pet from our facility, is where we learned that [he] lives in Michigan,” said Simeone.
Andrew Sanborn is Daisy Duck Bandit’s owner, and does in fact, live in Dearborn, Michigan.
He still can’t figure out how his cat ended up in Florida.
“I mean I’m happy that he’s back,” said Sanborn. “But I highly doubt he walked all the way down there.”
He says he was in shock when he received the news.
“I was distraught over the cat being gone, but you know, it had been about two months when I got the call,” said Sanborn. “So, I thought the cat was gone. You know? “
Now, the dilemma for Sanborn is how to get Daisy Duck Bandit back to Michigan.
He started a GoFundMe page to help with airfare and contacted Bamboopetsitting.com.
Stephanie Nay thought his request was a bit unusual.
“Unusual to me is like, ‘oh, I need you pet sit my tarantula.’ You know, something like that,” said Nay.
“But not, ‘can you bring my cat to the airport.'”
Sanborn explains Daisy Duck Bandit is an indoor/outdoor cat.
He believes he got cold and found a warm car to seek shelter in, or maybe a neighbor thought he was a stray and took him on a trip to Florida.
Curtis Krueger, with Blue Pearl, said the hospital reunites many pets with their owners, and while this case is quite unique, it highlights the value of microchipping your pet.
