Hillsborough tax collector gets state’s first self-service kiosks

Customers at three Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office locations now have access to the state’s first self-service kiosks.

The county officially unveiled the kiosks Wednesday at three of its busiest offices – the branches in Brandon, Drew Park and North Tampa. Hillsborough County is the first tax collector’s office in the state to offer the kiosks.

The kiosks allow customers to renew their vehicle registration without waiting in line. The county says users can pay with cash or credit and have their new decal in as little as two minutes. There will be no additional charge for cash transactions. Customers paying with credit or debit cards will pay a 2.25 percent fee.

The kiosks offer instructions and voice prompts in both English and Spanish, making them as “easy to use as an ATM,” the county says.

“Providing a self-service kiosk is just another innovative example of how we strive to provide excellent customer service to the citizens of Hillsborough County,” tax collector Doug Belden said, adding that the kiosk project has been in the works for nearly two years.

The self-service kiosks are available to use now at the following locations:
