Hillsborough deputies caught a bank robber in the act on Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Emmanuel Adonteng, 23, entered the Chase Bank in the University area around 1 p.m. and submitted a written demand for cash to the bank teller.

In the note, Adonteng said he was armed.

A bank teller called 911 for help and deputies arrived less than two minutes after the call and surprised the would-be robber.

Adonteng was arrested without incident.
