TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is set to hold a vehicle procession for Deputy Abigail Bieber to a private funeral home on Wednesday.

Bieber was murdered in St. Augustine by her boyfriend Detective Daniel Leyden who also worked for the sheriff’s office.

The HCSO Motor Unit will escort Bieber’s body from St. Augustine to Clearwater.

The motorcade will take Interstate 75 to Interstate 275 to Hillsborough County, exiting at Bearss Avenue. The motorcade will then travel westbound on Ehrlich Road, turning onto Gunn Highway to pass the HCSO District III Office located at 7202 Gunn Highway where Deputy Bieber was assigned.

The motorcade will pass the District III Office around 12:15 p.m. Members of the public can park in the Macy’s parking lot at Citrus Park Mall and watch the procession from there.

Deputy Bieber’s squadmates, along with members of the sheriff’s office will line the roadway to pay their respects, and members of the community are more than welcome to participate. The motorcade will travel from Gunn Highway to an undisclosed funeral home in Clearwater.

“Deputy Bieber is more than deserving of this honor, and we hope that by allowing both our Sheriff’s Office family and the community at large to pay their respects, it will provide some small sense of comfort in this tragedy,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “She will forever be remembered as a dedicated public servant.”

During a brief Wednesday afternoon press conference, Chronister said, “This case wasn’t about mental health. This is a domestic violence situation. This is that horrific, tragic crime of anger and passion and that’s what needs to stop.”

He added, “This uniform, a lot of people think it means you’re superman or superwoman. But inside we have to remind ourselves that we are human just like everyone else.”

The public is advised to be aware of traffic delays along the route.
