An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with the HCSO Occupational Health Clinic helped a man suffering from a stroke on a flight on Monday.
Kaleleigh Hill was on her way home from a vacation in Turks and Cacaos.
About 15 minutes into her flight back home, an American Airlines pilot came over the intercom and requested medical attention for a passenger.
The man was losing muscle control and couldn’t blink or swallow.
The Hillsborough sheriff’s office says without hesitation, Hill assisted the crew and stabilized the man, who was likely having a stroke.
Hill discovered the man had ruptured his ear drum while diving and took measures to make the flight more bearable for him until they could land.
Thanks to Hill’s efforts, the flight could continue.
“Kaeleigh represents the essence of everything we stand for here at HCSO,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
“She acted without hesitation to help another person when they needed it most. That makes her a hero in my book. I am extremely proud to have someone like her on our team.”
“I’m not a hero, it is my job. That’s why I am here,” said Hill. “
We are put in places that we need to be, when we need to be there. That is all that happened here.”
