TAMPA (WFLA) – The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) has established two financial support funds for Operator Thomas Dunn’s family.
Dunn was killed last week when deputies say Justin McGriff, 35, stabbed Dunn to death Saturday afternoon while the bus was traveling down Nebraska Avenue near Linebaugh Avenue.
“Today, we announce the creation of two financial support funds for Mr. Dunn’s family,” said HART CEO Benjamin Limmer. “Following this senseless tragedy, we offer the community the opportunity to support his family in their time of need.”
In addition to the family fund, HART has also created the Thomas Dunn Memorial Scholarship for the children of Mr. Dunn for educational scholarships.
Donations to the Thomas Dunn Memorial Scholarship Fund can be provided online. McGriff has a pre-trial hearing set for Friday.
