A well-known Florida rapper is out on bond after being arrested at Tampa International Airport Wednesday.

Plies, whose real name is Algernod Washington, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

Airport officials said TSA found a Glock 43 and a loaded magazine cartridge in his carry-on bag at the checkpoint.

An airport spokeswoman said he did not have a concealed weapons permit, which is a felony and an automatic arrest.

Washington was charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm, held briefly at the TIA police cell and then transferred to the Hillsborough County jail.

If convicted, Plies could face up to five years in prison for the charge.

Plies is the founder of Big Gates Records. He was born in Fort Myers.
