A second strike team from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is returning to Florida Thursday after spending more than a week in North Carolina.
While there, they aided in evacuating flood victims and nursing home patients and after the flood waters receded, helped in getting them back home.
Lt. Ryan Herndon and firefighter medics Tim Pearson, Nate Ponson and Stacey Alligood were a part of the team.
This team replaced the first team dispatched to the Carolinas in the wake of Hurricane Florence. The first team was dispatched on Sept. 11.
Fire Rescue officials say the two crews traveled thousands of miles across the state, helping and relocating patients.
The second strike team is expected to arrive at Hillsborough Fire Rescue Headquarters at 5:30 p.m.
